There is nothing that can start my day off quite as wonderfully as some peaceful time with the Bible and prayer, accompanied by a warm mug filled with coffee or tea. It’s just so refreshing to kick off my morning learning more about the vast capacity of God’s love and how exactly I fit into this whole story called life.
Recently, I have been so excited to be joining my other sisters in Christ across the globe in cracking open the new book called Women in the Word created by the team behind the online community of She Reads Truth. In this book, we are taking a closer look at the many different women throughout the Old and New Testaments. The Scriptures are provided, along with, empty space to reflect on the passages; the lovely authors also post their thoughts online to go along with the readings each day. All of this combined already makes for a truly rich experience, but one of the coolest things about this book is the fact that the team had women from the She Reads Truth community submit pictures ahead of time so we could be a part of this book. Because of this, as the pages turn, I am exposed to tons of faces from all over the world that are also marching along to the beat of this victory song that is a walk with Jesus Christ.
As I look at all of these faces, some are older than me or darker than me. Some are already mothers and some are independent travelers. Some are students and some are career women. With every face comes a different set of characteristics, but one amazing similarity stands out to me… they are all beautiful! They are beautiful because they are made by the hands of the Creator.
I honestly can’t comprehend the fact that it is 2015 and people are still struggling with hatred towards one another because of their differences. God clearly loves variety! He played with colors, textures, temperatures, and more when creating the earth we inhabit. This can be so easily seen in simply comparing the sunsets of South Florida and rural Southern Ohio…
They’re completely different in so many ways, yet they’re both breathtakingly gorgeous.
So are you!
Just remember that.
If God spent that much time making the sky pretty for you to look at, just imagine how much time He spent thinking up just who He wanted you to be and how He wanted you to look! He thinks you’re perfect just the way you are because you are made in His image and with a purpose.
Let’s make it a point to start appreciating the beauty in our differences instead of tearing ourselves down and the people around us. Let’s pursue our dreams of being writers, teachers, actresses, athletes, wives, good friends, and anything else on our hearts, with the confidence that our unique passions were placed within us from the God who wants to see us living life so abundantly joyful that it brings glory to His name.
Here are a few verses to take with you:
- He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. ~Ecclesiastes 3:11
- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. ~ Genesis 1:27
- For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. ~Ephesians 2:10
